Good Citizen Award Schemes

Once you have completed a puppy foundation course you will be invited to join the waiting list for Club Membership so you can progress to the next class.

During the classes we give you the opportunity to work towards the Kennel Club Bronze, Silver and Gold Good Citizens Awards.

 

Bronze Award

On completion of the Bronze Award your dog will walk on a lead in a controlled manner, will perform a stay and come back when called. The owner will be able to examine, groom, clean and position the dog in a sit and down position for others to examine.

 

Silver Award

Building on the skills previously learnt these activities will be further extended and handler and dog will be introduced to everyday situations, such as road walking, vehicle control exercises and a controlled greeting. Other ‘Doggy Manners’ will also be taught.

 

Gold Award

Finally the Gold Award provides more advanced training for dogs and handlers. It provides the handler with greater knowledge and understanding of dog behaviour and continues to build on the skills already learnt. On completion dogs will also be able to perform a relaxed stay in isolation, a stop and a go to bed exercise.

These tests are not compulsory and a performed in a relaxed atmosphere when you and your dog are ready.
